Then, the money looks clean, and no one suspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Law 155-17 on Money Laundering in the Dominican Republic <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Law 155-17<\/strong> in the Dominican Republic, also known as <strong>Law Against Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism<\/strong>is crucial legislation in the country. Its goal is to prevent and combat money laundering and terrorism financing within the Dominican territory. class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Financial Institutions:<\/strong> Banks, insurance companies, exchange houses, and other financial institutions handling monetary transactions and assets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Real Estate Agents:<\/strong> Individuals or organizations involved in buying, selling, or leasing properties are subject to these regulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lawyers and Notaries:<\/strong> Legal professionals may be involved in financial transactions and, therefore, must comply with anti-money laundering regulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jewelers and Precious Metal Traders:<\/strong> Those selling precious metals, gems, and jewelry are also included.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Casinos and Gambling Establishments: <\/strong>Establishments handling large sums of cash.\nOnline Gambling Companies: Includes online betting and gaming platforms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Electronic Gaming Operators: <\/strong>This covers slot machines and other electronic gaming devices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Customs Agents and Customs Warehouses: <\/strong>Those involved in imports and exports.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accountants and Auditors:<\/strong> Accounting professionals with key financial information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Electronic Gaming Operators:<\/strong> This covers slot machines and other electronic gaming devices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Other Designated Sectors: <\/strong>Any other sector or business that authorities determine as high-risk in terms of money laundering and terrorism financing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the UAF, and what are its functions?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text tool that assists the UAF in its work.<\/strong>This tool was created by the United Nations and designed to help the Financial Intelligence Units of each country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to register with the UAF?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" regulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 2: Appoint a \u201cCompliance Officer\u201d<\/strong> If your company qualifies as an \u201cObligated Entity,\u201d you need to appoint someone to serve as your Compliance Officer.\nThis person is responsible for ensuring that your business follows all UAF rules and requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 3: Complete an online form.<\/strong> .** Visit the UAF website (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uaf.gob.do\/index.php\/servicios\/item\/233-registro-de-sujetos-obligados\">Registration of Obligated Subjects (uaf.gob.do)<\/a>] find and complete the registration form with your company\u2019s information.\nThis includes details about your business and your designated Compliance Officer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 4: Validation and credential creation.<\/strong> The UAF will verify the information you provided. If everything is in order, they will give you the access credentials you need to submit certain reports that are crucial for preventing illegal activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 5: Access testing and confirmation.<\/strong> Make sure your company\u2019s Compliance Officer has access to the UAF\u2019s online platform. This step ensures everything is working correctly.
